Sanguinum helps - would you like to help as well?

It has always been one of the principles of the company founders to share some of their income with people who are in need. Sanguinum currently supports three projects, the orphanage "Sunrise Children's Village", the microlending organization "KIVA" and the German organization "Kindernothilfe.

Sunrise Children's Village

The project "Sunrise Children's Village" is a personal matter of the heart of our partner Mrs. Dr. Lore Kidess von Bulow from Dusseldorf. She has many years of private contacts in Cambodia and via her trips she is familiar with the circumstances under which the children have to grow up there. Dr. Kidess has been collecting donations for many years and will personally ensure that the money is not deducted in Cambodia and only the children will benefit.

"Sunrise Children's Village" was founded in 1993 by the Australian Geraldine Cox, who was touched and overwhelmed by the suffering and helplessness of the children, initially began to collect private donations in small scale. The Australian NGO (Non-Governmental-Organization) maintains two orphanages in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh for orphaned and abused children, who benefit from a place to live as well as from medical care, schooling, and thus hope for a future. The latest project is the construction of a third orphanage in Sihanoukville, which will provide home for more than 180 HIV-infected children. The construction is financially supported by Sanguinum and private donations collected by Dr. Kidess von Bulow.

In 2010 Sanguinum and Dr. Kidess von Bulow Kidess were able to support the project with $ 9,000. From the latest donation e.g. two young girls, who are regularly sponsored by Sanguinum, will be operated in September. The two children have eyes and ears missing as they were etched with battery acid. One of the girls had been sold earlier to a Thai beggar-ring and disfigured with acid to make it so miserable to provoke more compassion (a similar situation is shown in the movie "Slumdog Millionaire"). The Sanguinum-partner Dr. Kidess has followed the work of Geraldine Cox's Organization since the beginning of the millennium, and therefore sees with her own eyes that every collected dollar flows into the relief projects. The administrative costs of homes are below 10% of the donations, a very small percentage of a charity. Mrs. Geraldine Cox is in their commitment to help themselves: All children have the opportunity to get an education. The girls learn sewing, the boys carpentry, and some very talented can even study in Australia, to return to Cambodia later to support the country's development.

The videos here, here and here give a good impression about Geraldine Cox's great family.

"During my visits I have experienced how grateful, happy and close the children are after all that each one of them has gone through in their lives. I am grateful that the Sanguinum company shows such social engagement and call for donations for the orphanage which I look after. Also a sponsorship would be accepted greatfully." Dr. med. Lore Kidess-von Bulow, Dusseldorf

How can you help?

You can effortlessly make a big change because the currency differences, the value of dinner provides for one month's accommodation, food, medical care and education for a child in Cambodia.

The supporting donations for the "Sunrise Children's Villages" come mainly from individuals and families who are very important to the children. Many sponsors choose to send donations for general use for the orphanages, either regularly or as a single donation. Large and small donations are gratefully and happily accepted. A donation can be so simple: just use the momentum after watching the videos and click on the Paypal Donate button below, it takes less than a minute and the donation arrives at once.

You can even sponsor a child:
With this option $40 (= ca. 25 €, 1 € is about $1,50 Australian Dollars) per child per month are deducted from your credit card. You can use form form, ticking "sponsoring a child". The staff of the orphanages provide handwritten letters (or pictures drawn by the younger children) who are sent to you as a sponsor. Your answers are eagerly awaited.

Further recommendations, regularly supported by Sanguinum

kiva Sanguinum also supports and recommends the organization kiva.org (also endorsed by Bill Clinton). Through this organization, you can give microloans directly to people and groups in the Third World. What we consider a few Euros or Pound Sterling, is a lot of money in their local currencies and can help whole families to build and sustain a future. Money given, being loans by nature, will be paid back to you (with more than 97% repayment rate!) and you can decide to lend it again or it can be paid to you to you.

Kindernothilfe We would also like to draw your attention to another charity that we support: www.kindernothilfe.de.
You can apply for a "Foster Child" (or more) who will - for only 1 € per day each - receive shelter, food and education from your donations. The charity will update you regularly on the child's progress. The donations are tax deductable in Germany. Further they have a simple process to be included into your will, so you can make a huge impact even after your life. Please read this, the form to be filled out can be found here.

Here you can find examples of the provided loans via "Kiva", a report from one of the children sponsored by Sanguinum in Ethiopia via "Kindernothilfe" and the sponsorship form for children sponsored by Sanguinum in "Sunrise Children's Village".
